design consultation

After having a discussion over the phone around the scope of your project; we will have a face to face meeting in the space. The main aims of this meeting are to really focus on what you would like to achieve. The consultation is whatever you need it to be for your specific project; it’s informal and should make you feel relaxed, reassured and excited about your project. Prior to meeting you will complete a questionnaire about your project and after the meeting you will receive an information pack containing all the information and links to what we discussed, and next steps. I will come equipped with plenty of samples and swatches to get the ball rolling. We can discuss and plan the following but this list is not exhaustive:

  • Spacial/ layout planning

  • Colour/ Paint selection

  • Artwork selection

  • Furniture sourcing

  • Upholstery & Fabrics

  • Window treatments

  • Lighting

  • Styling

  • Planning for a larger renovation or building work

full service interior design

For this option I begin working with you from the planning stage, particularly if you are making structural changes to your home or planning a whole house renovation. I like to work alongside your architect or builder (if required) from concept stage to create a design that considers every aspect of the finished interior. This includes assisting with and managing your budget, timelines and procurement of furniture and fixtures. Everything from layout planning, selecting interior architecture finishes and creating lighting plans to sourcing finishes, furniture, art work and accessories. I can provide a full set of interior plan drawings and 3D CAD renders to compliment and aid the work completed by your contractors and/or architect. You will work closely with me and my team to ensure everything is perfect and you are delighted with the outcome.

Investment from £1200 - a bespoke fee proposal will be prepared for you as each project varies in its complexity

“Catherine worked on our rental apartment. My experience with her was absolutely amazing. She was professional, so easy to work with and she helped me stay calm through the whole process. She was always quick to follow up with information and layouts and she really worked well to come up with beautiful ideas based on what we requested. It was like she could really read my mind and anticipate what I would like based on our meetings. She took my preferences and elevated them to such a high degree. I cannot recommend her more as she not only created such a beautiful and comfortable space in a timely manner but also did it within our budget and more than surpassed our expectations. Thanks Catherine for such a beautiful and functional rental space!”

flexible design

This option is for you if you aren’t sure what service is right for you yet, or if you would like to pick and choose which aspects of the design I help with. It could be that you have had a consultation with me and then want to bring me in to create some drawings for you of bespoke cabinetry or kitchen/ bathroom layouts, working out where your furniture and artwork is going to go or to get some assistance with accessorising the room at the end. Each project is different and the needs of each client differ. If you think this is for you let’s have a chat and we can discuss which elements you’d like me to help with.

FAQs

how much is this going to cost?

I like to be really upfront with clients when discussing the cost. The higher your project budget is the higher the design fee will be as there will be more elements to the design, so more hours spent ensuring your project is perfect to the last detail. As a general rule of thumb you can expect the design fee to be around 10% of your overall budget for the space. You will be able to access my trade discounts and expertise. And rest assured I will bring the project in on or just below the budget I have been given.

why hire an interior designer?

Hiring me will save you time, I will spend the time doing all the planning and ground work that goes in to a project. Searching for just the right items, doing the admin and ensuring the details are correct. It will save you money by ensuring you don’t make costly mistakes by choosing something that isn’t quite right. You will have the opportunity to see everything before final decisions are made and make necessary changes.

what if I don’t like the design?

This doesn’t really happen as I spend the time in the beginning helping you to unlock your own personal style. Each space is tailored to the person it’s for and tells your personal story through colour, design and details. You will also have the opportunity to see what your final design looks like before anything is purchased either through mood boards, 2D drawings or 3D renders.

I live quite far away, can I still hire you?

I do offer an E-design option where applicable. We will meet online and you will be required to send me photos and measurements. A shopping list will be created for you for this service, I will send you a list with all items and instructions for you to finish the room yourself. The fee for this service is worked out based on the size and complexity of the room.

I only want help with one aspect, can you help with that?

I help all kinds of people with all sorts of design conundrums. Whether it’s choosing paint colours, flooring or furniture. Or if you want help with spacial planning only, I can tailor the proposal for this one item and give you a quote based on the time it will take. Send me an email if you want to make an initial enquiry here.

What if I don’t know what I need?

If you aren’t sure what level of service you are needing just yet, we will start with what you do need now and as the project evolves you will be able to add on services as required. We will discuss fees and project scope as the project evolves. I will be upfront about what services I am completing and let you know if the initial proposal needs adjusting at any point.
